When is your situation too complex for an online will?

Online wills work well for the majority of Canadians. A few situations benefit from a lawyer's review — usually because of trusts, blended-family obligations, or non-Canadian assets.

The Legalify wizard handles the most common Canadian estates: spouse plus children, a home, registered plans, and straightforward charitable gifts. If any of those describe you, your will is well-served by an online workflow.

Situations that benefit from a lawyer's review include: ongoing support obligations from a prior relationship, beneficiaries on disability benefits (an absolute gift can disqualify them), assets in another country, business shares that need a tax-driven holding plan, or a desire to disinherit a spouse or child (which can be challenged under provincial wills-variation laws).

If any of those apply, our wizard flags it on AY-05 and we recommend a lawyer review before signing. You still draft your will here — the lawyer reviews the output, not a blank page.
