Three reasons people delay. None of them hold up.
Estate planning has a marketing problem, not a substance problem. Here's what the process actually looks like when it's done right.
The guided interview averages 20 minutes. You can save your draft, walk away, and finish over a Sunday coffee. Most Canadians complete a full will in a single sitting.
A lawyer-drafted will averages $400–$700 in Canada. Legalify builds on the same provincial statutes and official forms — a will you sign correctly in front of two witnesses meets your province's signing requirements.
Every Canadian who finishes their will reports relief, not dread. You're not planning for endings — you're protecting the people you love from a difficult day they shouldn't have to navigate alone.
Three steps. 20 minutes. One signature.
No paperwork. No appointments. No upselling. Pause and resume whenever life gets in the way — your draft is always there when you come back.
Gather your people.
Family, executors, guardians, beneficiaries. Add each person once — we'll reuse them across every role they play in your plan. No re-typing names, no scattered notes.
Decide what goes where.
Split your estate by percentage or by specific gift. Choose guardians for your kids. Name backups for every role — we'll flag missing pieces before you sign.

Six documents. One complete plan.
A will is the foundation, but the people you love need more than that. Legalify covers the six documents every Canadian adult should have — in one guided flow.
Last Will & Testament
The foundation of every estate plan. Decides who inherits what, who raises your children, and who carries out your wishes. Without one, the province decides — using rules that may not match your family.
- Names guardians for any children under 18
- Splits your estate by percentage or specific gift
- Appoints an executor (and a backup)
- Province-by-province witnessing instructions
Power of Attorney — Health
Names someone to speak for you on medical decisions if you can't speak for yourself — anything from a temporary hospital stay to end-of-life care. Built to your province's health-decisions legislation.
- Names a primary and backup health representative
- Records your treatment preferences
- Recognized under your province's health-care legislation
- Update anytime as your wishes change
Power of Attorney — Finance
Lets a trusted person handle banking, bills, real estate, and investments if you're temporarily or permanently unable to — preventing frozen accounts during the worst possible moments.
- Names a financial attorney + backup
- Effective immediately or only on incapacity (your choice)
- Scope limits you can set (no real estate sales, etc.)
- Revocable at any time
Asset List
A structured inventory so your executor knows what exists and where to find it. Without one, executors spend months hunting through filing cabinets — Legalify gives them a roadmap.
- Property, vehicles, investments, life insurance
- Institution names and account references
- Updated alongside your will, in one place
- Printable handoff for your executor
Digital Asset List
Your online life — banking logins, email, cloud storage, social accounts, crypto wallets. The single document that means your executor can actually find and close everything that lives behind a password.
- Email, banking, and government portal access
- Social media wishes (memorialize, deactivate, transfer)
- Crypto and digital wallet recovery
- Subscription cancellations after passing
Executor Tools
A plain-language guide for the person you appoint — exactly what to do, in order, on the day they have to act. The kindest gift you can leave the person carrying out your wishes.
- Step-by-step checklist (notify, gather, file, distribute)
- Government and financial-institution contact list
- Probate guidance for your province
- Estimated timelines for each action
For something this important, the small print matters.
Three Canadian non-negotiables underpin everything Legalify ships: documents built to the statutes of the provinces we support, banking-grade encryption, and a privacy posture that puts your story in your hands alone.
Encryption that exceeds banking standards.
Your answers are encrypted with AES-256 — the same standard your bank uses — at rest and in transit. Zero-knowledge architecture: even our engineers cannot read your will without your express permission.
Your story stays yours.
We don't sell your data. We don't share it with insurers, advertisers, or marketing partners. The only people who ever see your will are you, your executor, and your two witnesses when you sign on paper.

Real wills, finished, by people who'd been waiting.
I'd been putting this off for six years. Did the whole thing on a Saturday morning between coffees. The hardest part was telling my wife I'd finally done it.
We're both self-employed and the lawyer quote was $1,400. Legalify did both of our wills, both POAs, and our asset lists for under $200. Same legal effect when signed.
Honestly the most reassuring thing I've done as a parent. Knowing our two girls would have someone we chose — that's worth every minute of the questionnaire.

Answers, before you start.
The questions Canadians ask us most. Don't see yours? See the full FAQ.
Is it really legally valid?
Legalify's documents are built to meet the formal signing requirements of the province you select, using that province's statutes and official forms. Each document comes with step-by-step signing instructions — for a will, that is typically signing in front of two witnesses who are not beneficiaries (a gift to a witness can be void). Follow the instructions and your will satisfies your province's signing requirements; a valid will also depends on your having mental capacity and signing freely. Legalify is a self-help document service, not a law firm, and does not provide legal advice — for complex situations, consult a lawyer in your province.
What's actually in the package?
Six documents: your Last Will and Testament, Power of Attorney for Health, Power of Attorney for Finance, a physical asset list, a digital asset list (for online accounts and passwords), and an executor's guide. All produced from a single guided interview — you only enter your information once.
How long does it really take?
Most Canadians finish in 20 minutes or less. Couples take longer because there are more decisions to make. You can save and resume from any device — there's no penalty for stepping away for a day.
What if my situation is unusual?
Legalify handles most Canadian situations cleanly: blended families, dependants with special needs, business owners, multi-province real estate, charitable bequests, pet trusts. For genuinely complex estates (offshore assets, family trust structures), we'll tell you mid-flow when a lawyer becomes the right call — and we'll refund you.
What's the catch with 'free to start'?
No catch. You can complete the entire questionnaire and preview your six documents without paying. Payment ($79–$129) is only required to download the signature-ready PDFs. If you decide the paid plan isn't right, our 30-day refund applies — no questions, no forms, no friction.
Will my information stay private?
Yes. Your answers are encrypted in transit and at rest. We don't sell data to advertisers, insurers, or anyone else. The only people who ever see your will are you, the executor you name, and the witnesses who sign with you on paper.
Province-specific wills, done right.
Every province sets its own rules for what makes a will valid — who can witness it, whether it needs notarizing, how it's signed. Choose yours for the exact requirements and a step-by-step signing guide.
The hardest part is starting.
Take 20 minutes.
You'll never regret being the person in your family who finally got this done. Your future self — and the people you love — will be grateful you didn't wait.
